How to classify electrical connectors by different operating frequencies?

Different fields have different operating frequency requirements for connectors, and usually divided into low-frequency, high-frequency and mixed-frequency electrical connectors.

The specific division method is as follows:

 

1. Low-frequency electrical connectors.

The standard for the division of high and low frequencies is generally 100MHz. Therefore, low-frequency electrical connectors usually refer to electrical connectors whose transmission signal frequency is less than 100MHz. This type of electrical connector has a large range of current transmission, and its structure is mostly multi-wire (up to several hundred),

Common types include:

  • Electrical connectors for audio equipment. Such as YS1 type circular electrical connectors, concentric electrical connectors, plugs and sockets used in audio equipment.

  • Electrical connectors for household appliances. Such electrical connectors are mainly used in household appliances such as black and white TV sets, color TV sets, etc., and devices of similar structure also need them.

  • Electrical connectors for office equipment. Copiers, computer printers, microprocessors and other equipment will use such connectors.

  • Cable electrical connector. This type of electrical connector termination is stranded cable, shielded cable, solid wire, etc., free end electrical connectors and free end mating electrical connectors or fixed electrical connectors.
  • Cabinet electrical connectors. It consists of two pairs of fixed electrical connectors. They are respectively mounted on the system frame and the unit assembly, and are connected and separated by the linear reciprocating motion of the unit assembly.

 

2. High frequency electrical connector.

Usually refers to electrical connectors used in circuits with operating frequencies greater than 100MHz. The construction of such electrical connectors should take into account the leakage and reflection of high frequency electric fields. Since the coaxial cable of the coaxial structure is generally used for connection, it is also often referred to as a coaxial electrical connector.

 

3. Hybrid high and low frequency electrical connectors.

Usually refers to an electrical connector that contains both low frequency and high frequency contact pairs.
